This Modigliani Bust Statue reproduces the 1913 oil painting Le grand buste rouge, one of Modigliani's most striking female figures from his early Paris period. Amedeo Modigliani’s work is instantly recognizable due to its distinctive elongated shapes. His paintings reflect his deep passion for sculpting, a craft he had to abandon in 1915 due to his deteriorating health. Born in the Tuscan town of Livorno, Modigliani pursued his academic education in Florence and Venice. In 1906, he settled in the renowned Montmartre district of Paris, where his exceptional talent was swiftly acknowledged by the avant-garde movement of Eastern Europe. Modigliani’s artistic journey was both brief and eventful, spanning from 1884 to 1920. Driven by an insatiable desire for recognition, he dedicated himself to his craft. However, his life was also plagued by alcoholism, metaphysical anxieties, and the progressive onset of tuberculosis. At the age of forty, Modigliani left behind a body of work that embodies his sincere and obsessive quest for truth and purity within the realm of art.
