This bird with a letter comes from The Temptation of Saint Anthony, the famous triptych by Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450 to 1516). Bosch populated his paintings with fantastic animals, hybrid creatures, and enigmatic details, often carrying symbolic meanings that are not easily explained.
