Glass half dome paperweight with Strawberry Thief 1883 textile pattern by artist William Morris (1834-1896). William Morris created repeating pattern designs for curtains, drapes and textiles in an attempt to bring back handcrafted items as part of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Strawberry Thief -- where thrush birds are found stealing strawberries from his garden -- proved to be one of his most popular patterns. The design has a black background with red, yellow, blue and green evenly coloring the continuous pattern.

William Morris (1834-1896):William Morris is considered the father of the influential 19th-century Arts and Crafts movement that rejected the industrial, mass production of classically styled utilitarian and decorative objects. As a designer he argued passionately in favor of the return of craftsmanship to the applied arts. Improved labor conditions would then help create more beautiful products due to increased passion.
